About me
Biography:
Priska Flandorfer was born in 1980 in Vienna. She lives and paints in Lower Austria.
After gaining her doctorate in Sociology and working as a scientist, Priska began learning to draw in 2012. She was interested in art because her grandmother who has been an artist too, left her some paintings and drawings which she admired.
She was soon commissioned by people to draw portraits of their children or pets and began promoting her commissions on her website meinportrait.at
Being self-taught at the start, she took two masterclasses at the London Atelier of Representational Art with Radoslav Topalov and Sophie Welch which boosted her skills further. She is now able to draw and paint from life models, which she continously practices at the Vienna University of Applied Arts.
A few years ago she got inspired by artists from the pop surrealism movement where she has now found her artistic outlet. She uses her traditional painting skills and her interest in Renaissance and Rococo art to create pop surreal artworks.
Artist Statement:
My main interest lies in the beautiful and bizarre with a strong focus on nature and transience. I began to develop semi-realistic characters and my aim is to convey a mysterious and ephemeral ambiance. Deeply rooted in Philosophy and Sociology, I'm interested in narrations about humanity and nature and how everything is connected. When I'm painting, I'm the person, I always wanted to be.
Artistic Training:
In Austria: with Markus Stiehl and Rudolf Fuchs
In Germany: with Elina Deberdeva
